Effective March 2026 100% Local — No Data Collected

Andrea Reader is built around a single principle: your reading life is yours. The app runs entirely on your device, requires no account, makes no external connections, and collects no data — ever. This document explains exactly what that means in practice, so you can use the app with complete confidence.

A fully local application

Andrea Reader is a local-first app in the strictest sense. All of your content and activity — books, collections, reading progress, highlights, annotations, bookmarks, favorites, reading statistics, and every preference you configure — is stored exclusively on your iPhone or iPad, inside the app's private storage container managed by iOS.

There is no backend server, no cloud infrastructure, and no user account system of any kind. Your library and your data exist only on your device. They are never uploaded, backed up to our servers, or transmitted anywhere. If you delete the app, iOS removes all associated data along with it — nothing persists elsewhere, and there is nothing on our end to delete.

This is not a limitation — it is a deliberate design decision. A reading app does not need to know anything about you to do its job well.

No external connections

Andrea Reader makes zero external network requests — not on launch, not while you read, not in the background, not ever. The app does not communicate with any server, service, or third party at any point during its operation. There are no hidden connections, no silent background tasks, and no deferred uploads waiting for a Wi-Fi connection.

This covers every category of external communication:

  • No analytics or behavioral tracking of any kind
  • No advertising networks or ad delivery systems
  • No crash reporting or error logs sent to external servers
  • No telemetry, usage metrics, or performance instrumentation
  • No background syncing, automatic uploads, or cloud storage
  • No feature flags, remote configuration, or A/B testing infrastructure
  • No third-party SDKs that phone home on our behalf

The app is designed to function entirely offline and does so completely. You can verify this independently using any network monitoring tool on your device — Andrea Reader will produce no outbound traffic whatsoever.

No data collection

Andrea Reader collects no personal information, directly or indirectly. We do not know who you are, where you are, what you read, how long you spend reading, which features you use, or how you organize your library. There is no registration, no login, no device fingerprinting, and no session tracking.

We do not build user profiles, segment audiences, or run any form of behavioral analysis. We do not sell, license, rent, or share data with any third party — advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or anyone else. This is not a policy we enforce selectively: the architecture of the app makes it technically impossible for us to collect this data in the first place, because the app never communicates with infrastructure we operate.

No advertisements

Andrea Reader contains no advertisements and will never contain any. The app does not integrate any advertising SDK, does not participate in ad networks, and does not use your reading behavior, preferences, or personal information to serve targeted or contextual content of any kind. There are no sponsored placements, no promoted titles, and no commercial interruptions of any form within the reading experience.

Andrea Reader is a paid application. Its business model is straightforward: you pay once for the app, and in return you get a clean, distraction-free experience with no strings attached.

File and document access

The app may request access to your local files or document providers exclusively when you explicitly choose to import content. This permission is used solely to copy the selected file into the app's local storage on your device. The operation is entirely local: no file content, metadata, file name, or path information is ever transmitted outside the app or sent to any external system. Once a file is imported, Andrea Reader works from its own internal copy and does not maintain any connection to the original source.

Apple platform services

Andrea Reader is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple operates its own platform services independently — including optional crash reporting that iOS users can choose to enable in device settings, and aggregated App Store metrics visible to developers. Any data Apple collects through these services is governed entirely by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive individually identifiable information through these channels, and we have no control over Apple's data practices.

Children's privacy

Because Andrea Reader collects no data from any user — regardless of age, location, or how they use the app — it presents no privacy risk for younger readers. There is no personal information stored on our servers, no account that could be compromised, no profiling, and no data retention period of any kind. The app is safe to use for readers of all ages.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the revised version will be published on this page with an updated effective date. Because the app collects no user data and makes no external connections, any future changes are very unlikely to affect how your information is handled. There is no information for us to handle — and that is the point.
